Peter Gambetta
Senior Red Winemaker

In 1984, Peter Gambetta followed his passion and decided to further his knowledge of fine wines by commencing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Oenology) at Roseworthy Agricultural College in South Australia.

Peter has over 20 vintages of winemaking experience which have seen him working in some of the world's premium wine-growing regions, most recently spending the 2005 European vintage in Bordeaux. This international perspective is part of what makes him an invaluable asset to ring.bolt. Working extensively in Coonawarra and Wrattonbully vineyards has given Peter an intimate understanding of premium Cabernet Sauvignon and outstanding red winemaking experience and skills.

Peter first worked with Margaret River fruit in 1986. He was determined to make wine there after sharing a bottle of Margaret River wine and recognising the potential of the region to produce something special. "That first vintage gave me an insight into the intensity and outstanding varietal flavour of Margaret River Cabernet" said Peter. It was the beginning of his association with Margaret River and his appreciation of its wines. That vintage was doubly memorable as he also met a young winemaker who eventually became his wife.

Early plantings have matured and as a wider range of soils and microclimates have come under vine, Australia and the World have come to appreciate the power, style and finesse of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon. Peter believes that the style of the wine is evolving as we come to understand Margaret River's quintessential grape, Cabernet Sauvignon.

Having always taken a meticulous approach to his winemaking, Peter believes in attention to detail at every stage. From harvesting at optimal ripeness and fruit flavour, barrel maturation and to continuing to monitor the wine once in bottle - ensuring they are released only at their most enjoyable.

"...ring.bolt is a great opportunity to continue my love for Cabernet Sauvignon and to build my understanding of this great region."
